Is carpet grooming different from vacuuming?

Is carpet grooming different from vacuuming?

Carpet grooming enhances the effects of vacuuming, but it isn’t the same. Grooming is done with a rug rake or brush, often before or after deep cleaning–or vacuuming.

What, exactly, does it do?

When you rake or brush the rug, there's a lot of back-and-forth movement of fibers. That resets the nap, which is the essence of the rug itself.

It's what you see and walk on–enhancing aesthetics and durability.

For a visual, think of your yard. What does it look like after you've raked the leaves?

When you groom, your carpet in Nutley, NJ, will look great. It has plump, even fibers, making it look like new.

Does this replace vacuuming or deep cleaning?

No, they all do specific jobs. For example, grooming loosens dirt; while it may eliminate some, it can't do the same job as vacuuming. And deep cleaning goes into the fibers to remove whatever vacuuming doesn't pick up.

Rugs remove particles from the breathing zone. The fibers trap them instead of letting them circulate in the air.

Keep in mind, though, a dirty rug will impede airflow.
